In April of 2003 Supporting People will go live.
If your organisation provides any sheltered housing, supported housing or any form of floating support to residents, this will have a huge impact. For, from then on, the way in which housing related support services are funded will be fundamentally different.
Housing Benefit will cease to fund the support services your organisation provides and Supported Housing Management Grant will no longer exist. Instead, each local authority will receive a grant for co-ordinating and funding support services in their borough. They will then be responsible for deciding what services are needed and who should deliver them.
If your organisation is to continue to receive funding to provide, or even expand, your support services, you will have to convince the local authority that your services are needed, wanted and offer good value for money.
Are you geared up for this change?
This seminar, designed for voluntary members of London housing associations, will:
- examine what the Government hopes to achieve through the introduction of Supporting People
- outline how the new regime is designed to work
- look at how local authorities are approaching their new responsibilities
- explore what the changes will mean for Londonís associations and how they will need to adapt to thrive in the new environment
