regeneration convention
making neighbourhoods sustainable
services, skills and governance

Programme:
  • The practice of regeneration and neighbourhood renewal has developed enormously in the UK over the last few years.

  • People have learned from what works and different approaches have been taken in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and different parts of England.

  • In order to showcase good practice from each country, care is being taken to ensure that presentations and workshops draw on experience from the different countries in a balanced way.

  • Some workshops will offer cross-country comparisons, and these will be specially badged.

  • The development of practice also provides a sound basis on which to address some of the key policy issues that communities and practitioners face day-to-day.

  • The July 2005 convention reflects this dimension by introducing surgeries and cultural sessions alongside plenary sessions and workshops.

  • The focus of the convention remains that of exchanging ideas, approaches and problems between those who are directly involved in renewal and regeneration.
