The Event:
The National Regeneration Convention is the national event aimed specifically at those involved in all local regeneration partnerships and, in particular, at community representatives.
The fourth National Regeneration Convention will start on the afternoon of Tuesday 1st July 2003 and end in the afternoon of Thursday 3rd July 2003. It will be held at the University of York.
The third Convention – in Nottingham last year - was attended by over 700 people from partnerships, local, regional and central government, housing associations, firms, consultancies and others involved in regeneration.
This event has now firmly established itself as the forum for all those involved in regeneration to share experiences and to discuss up-to-date policy and practice and new approaches.
The Programme:
The July 2003 convention looks at the ways in which programmes are being delivered in practice with special emphases on integration at the neighbourhood level, on skills, on linkages with other programmes, and on agencies.
The bulk of the programme is filled by workshops which are designed to be as interactive as possible and which are run by people with direct knowledge of partnerships. Discussions will focus on issues such as physical regeneration and integrating programmes. As part of the process of improving this event, there will be visits to four regeneration projects in the area on 1 July. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come-first served basis.
Once again Regional forums will provide delegates with opportunities to discuss local issues, network and meet other regeneration practitioners from their own part of the country. Forum participants will decide their own workshop themes.
Two opportunities are offered for delegates to run their own workshops on subjects they feel have not featured in the convention programme. Ten rooms will be available for these Open Forums on Wednesday 2 July at 5.15pm and Thursday 3 July at 8.30am.
