The ROOM National Partnership Awards have been re-launched for 2002 to give them new focuses on community involvement and on regeneration.  The new Awards are designed to encourage and recognise greater partnership working in schemes and services that demonstrate the role that housing plays in regenerating neighbourhoods.  There will be an unequivocal focus on the involvement of local communities in such schemes and services.

Key criteria

Schemes and services must:

• have inclusive and open partnerships at their heart
• involve housing which provides for those in need
• contribute directly to the physical, social and economic regeneration of an area
• demonstrate the full involvement of local communities.

ROOM and the Awards sponsors are seeking examples of practice that are worthy of national recognition and which can show the way ahead for partnership working in housing and regeneration.  The judging process will ensure that smaller scale initiatives are not overshadowed by major projects in selecting the winners.

The Award consists of a specially commissioned glass plaque to be displayed in the winning scheme, a framed certificate to the partnership and copy certificates to all the partners in the initiative, and coverage in a special publication.  The commended entries receive certificates for all the partners in the initiative.  All winning and commended partnerships will be publicised in a special supplement in the weekly regeneration journal Regeneration & Renewal, and in axis, the journal of housing, planning and regeneration.
